Prevention in Practice
The Oral Health Promotion team have a key role in training dental practitioners and dental care professionals in all areas of prevention and to support general dental practices to further promote oral health within their own practices and local community through a public health approach.

The initial stage of the Prevention in Practice programme involves a free CPD training session in Making Every Contact Count (MECC) which aims to:
- Enable the dental team to have all the neccessary competencies and skills to support behaviour change and ultimately improve the oral and general health of the local population
- Enable the dental team to respond to the health needs of their patients
- Provide information on where to access further advice and support from wider public health teams
- Support dental practices in Hull to refer directly into Specialist Public Health services such as stop smoking, alcohol and drug services
