What is...

  • Teeth Whitening

Is the process by which stains are removed from teeth to make them whiter, and so produce a better smile. The procedure can be done in surgery by a dentist, or at home. In surgery teeth whitening is considered more effective, and is achieved by the controlled surgery application of a high concentration peroxide gel on teeth for approximately 20 minutes. Home whitening is done by using a home whitening kit it is considered less effective than in surgery whitening as it involves applying a slow acting carbamide peroxide gel on the teeth. In some cases a combination of in surgery whitening followed by home whitening is advisable. Your dentist will be able to advise you of your best option.

  • Dental Veneers

Are customized tooth shells placed over the front surfaces of the teeth. Usually they are used as part of a cosmetic dental treatment to treat discoloured, broken, misaligned or spaced teeth in order to improve the appearance of the teeth and give a better smile. Dental veneers can be made of dental porcelain or resin based composites. Porcelain veneers are made in dental laboratory thus they require multiple visits. They are considered stronger and last longer than resin based composite veneers, and aesthetically they are considered superior. Resin composite veneers involve placement of the veneer over the front surface of the teeth. The treatment might be completed in a single visit. Your dentist will be able to advise you which option is better for you.

  • Dental Implant

Are artificial tooth roots used to support a replacement of a missing tooth. Dental Implants are usually made of titanium. The treatment has a relatively high success rate. It involves careful planning, followed by the surgical stage which is the placement of the implant in the jaw. This is followed by the restorative stage which is the placement of the crown on top of the dental implant. Dental implants are very useful to support a denture and make it more stable in your mouth. Your dentist is able to advise you about your suitability to receive dental implants to replace your missing teeth or support your denture.
